Rough couple of weeks

So I haven't written much lately that hasn't been Reviews because quietly I have been trying to figure out how to put everything I have been feeling into a post. So in February my mom had rotator cuff surgery and things went really well, she was doing great and things were healing well but on July 18th after 2 days prior being released from physical therapy my mom started experiencing some pain in her shoulder. Within in 3 days my mom was in emergency surgery because she had a severe infection in her blood and shoulder. It ended up being a staph infection. They went in and took out all the hardware and screws and unattached her rotator cuff. The infection had done some damage and so they recommended several weeks of antibiotics and rest. So she came home Monday the 23rd and has been on antibiotics. Tuesday she went into be rechecked and the infection is still pretty bad so as I type they are cutting her open again to clean it out and hopefully figure out what is going on. I have been battling all these feelings about my mom's surgery. I was really scared when the doctor called about the blood infection. My mom got worried and told my sister and I that if they mentioned taking her arm to not let them. My sister and I just looked at each other, honestly if it came down to my mom's life or her arm I would let them take it. I refuse to lose my mom. The morning of her first surgery on July 21st I cried. I was so concerned that this could be so severe and they just aren't telling us?? That was the longest day of my life, they rescheduled her surgery 3 times and she finally went in at 8:45pm. Everything went well and we were so relieved that the original surgeon did this surgery as well. She updated my sister and I and said she would follow up the following week. I was happy to see my mom and know she was in less pain but you could see she was still scared and frustrated. I wished I could do more, take away the pain or even trade her places. She got the news she would spend her summer on some fun antibiotics and that they would re-evaluate her in 10 weeks about repairing and attaching the rotator cuff again. She went on and on about how she never wanted to go through this again and so we talked and reminded her not to worry we aren't there yet and we can talk about it more as it got closer. The next few weeks were rough, she hasn't been able to do much, she's sleeping a lot and her summers are usually full of playing in the yard, walks and fun with the girls. She's been really discouraged and that's hard for me to see. We have been talking a lot about staying positive and how it could be so much worse, but you can still see the pain and frustration in her face. No one wants to continue to go through this over and over. I just pray and hope that this time will be the last, that the healing process can finally happen and we will see that happy lady I know again soon.

I think it's hard when you have a parent who's sick, ill, or broken and you can't fix them. I'm the fixer in my family and nurturer so this has been extremely hard on me. I try and just help out as much as I can, but I can't help but wish I could do more. We have been so lucky to have such a strong support system. My mom has some of the most amazing friends and co-workers. I can't extend thanks and gratitude enough to each of them. I know she's appreciated the phone calls, emails, visits and meals. Hopefully in just a few short hours she will be home resting. I can honestly say 2013 & 2014 have been really tough years on my family especially on my parents bodies and I just pray that we can all stay healthy and that bigger, brighter, and better things are in our future for 2015.

Good to Grow Review

Disclosure:I received Good to Grow products in exchange for a review as part of the Green Moms Meet Blogger program; however all opinions are my own.

I love being a part of the greenmommeets group. I recently had the opportunity to check out Good to Grow beverages.

These beverages are 100% fruit juice and do not contain any added sugar, high fructose corn
syrup, artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. They come in 3 different sizes 4oz, 6oz and 8oz so you can get the perfect size for your child!!

They come with fabulous character tops such as Dora, Doc McStuffins, Barbie. Phineas and Ferb, Tinkerbell, Spider Man and Ninja Turtles, so you're sure to find one your kids will like!
I think the lids are great and you can reuse them on each drink which reduces waste and the bottles are recyclable. We've been reusing them this summer with water, juice and more. And they are so easy to wash too!!! The lids are also BPA free, GMO free, dishwasher safe and reusable!!
My kit came with two individual juices and lids, coupons for free individual juices and a 6 pack of Fruit Punch, pens and stickers. These were a big hits with both my girls and these didn't last more than 4 days!!!
They have 6 exciting flavors including:100% Apple Juice, 40% less
sugar Apple Juice and purified water, 100% Fruit Punch, Tropical Fruit Medley

Ology product review from Walgreens

Disclosure:I received free product in part of the greenmommeets group to review; however all opinions are my own.

I recently had the opportunity to review the new Ology product line from Walgreens. Walgreens developed this incredible line of products free of harmful chemicals and 100% tree free. I think it's great that companies are looking for ways to make products without hurting the environment as well as not using harmful chemicals.

My pack came with Paper Towels, an All Purpose Cleaners and several samples of Ology Liquid Detergent.

We opened a back of the paper towels right away. You can tell they are different by the texture but they are still great for messy faces, spills and wiping down the counters. I did notice they were just as absorbent as Bounty or Sparkle. So not only do they do the job but even better they are safe!
Next we checked out the all purpose cleaner. I love the shape of the bottle and found out it's made of 100% post made consumer. Also all the products are made in the US.
I of course used the cleaner hand in hand with the paper towels to wipe down my counters and for a couple chocolate milk stains. The fragrance was suttle a nice citrus base. It cuts through grease and grime and can be used on kitchen counters, stoves, and most household surfaces. When looking at the bottle the back was full of information. No dyes or ammonia, no harsh solvents or artificial fragrances, no animal testing and the bottle is made from 100% post-consumer materials. I think Ology is onto something really great, saving our trees and planet and also keeping it clean!!!

Last but not least we had to use the Ology Liquid Detergent.
How exciting that one little packet will get the job done. I love that these were pre packaged and all you had to do was add it to the wash. It's a free and clear version which is great since I have an allergy kid. The liquid was awesome. No harmful chemical and dyes and can be used on delicates, woolens and regular washes!  Ology and Walgreens has even made there liquid detergent compatible with HE and conventional machines, so there really is a product for everyone!

Ology products are exclusively at Walgreen so next time you are in the store make sure you check them out. I know we will be switching using more Ology and less of the store brands.

Gutsy Chewy Review-y

Disclosure: I received free product in exchange for a review as a part of the greemommeets ambassador program; however all opinions are my own.

Do you suffer from a queasy, uneasy upset tummy. Well there's a new product that can help! I don't know about you but I have a sensitivity to a lot of foods these days. I have been tested for IBS but nothing showed so I always keep pepto tablets close by, until now! I have found Gutsy Chewy Tablets and they work like a charm.
Created by Dr.Doug Haghighi who is a gastroenterologist and dentist. Dr. Doug was looking for natural way to help with the occasional queasy, uneasy, refluxy feeling!

What to do: take 1 or 2 tablets as soon as that queasy feeling starts. Chew them for as long as you can and then swallow. They have 2 great flavors Wildberry and Citrus. I really like the citrus flavor myself. The label is clear not to use more than 2 in a 24 hour period. A great thing about Gusty Chews is that they are Gluten and Lactose Free. And they contain Xylitol which is great for your teeth!

I found that within a good 20 minutes of chewing and swallowing my tummy started settling down. And no messy after effects. I have taken them 4 times since receiving them and I give them for sure 4 stars! I think they are much more effective than Pepto tablets and taste much better.

It's nice to have an alternative to just the same old pepto feeling and taste! So if you have an ueasy, queasy and sometimes upset tummy my recommendation is for Gutsy Chewy!!!
